About Ontario County Criminal History

Ontario County criminal records are split among the Sheriff, city police departments, local and county courts, the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. This private reference site organizes the official portals, office addresses, and request routes so readers can identify the custodian that holds the particular record they need.

Why We Built This Site

New York offers several official access channels, yet each answers a different question. Ontario County Sheriff Records keeps its own incident and arrest reports. The Ontario County Jail handles current local custody information. County, city, town, and village court clerks maintain their respective case files, while the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services holds fingerprint-based histories for personal review. The New York State Sex Offender Registry and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision operate still other systems. We assembled the verified contacts, fees, search fields, and request steps for those distinct sources.

What You Will Find Here

Each resource points toward the office or official system that controls the requested Ontario County record.

  • Agency contacts: verified routes to Sheriff Records, local court clerks, the County Clerk, and New York state systems
  • Record guides: how criminal court case records are found and read in Ontario County
  • Official review steps: the differences between OCA name searches and fingerprint-based personal review through DCJS
  • Record sealing information: how New York sealing rules affect public court, police, and repository records

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately operated reference site, not part of an Ontario County office, a New York court, a police department, or a state agency. Those boundaries limit the services available here:

  • We do not issue certified court papers, police reports, or DCJS record-review responses
  • We cannot submit FOIL requests, sealing motions, or other filings for a visitor
  • We do not retrieve a criminal record or perform an official background check
  • We cannot apply New York law to a specific charge, warrant, or court case
  • We cannot promise that an agency will not change its fees, hours, or procedures

An official copy must come from its custodian, such as the court clerk, Ontario County Sheriff, or the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

Search Partners

Third-party providers power search boxes that appear on parts of this site. Each provider controls its own service, results, and prices. A completed paid signup may produce a referral fee that helps support this free reference. We do not set partner charges, maintain their databases, or decide what their tools return.
